Pegasus

If someone asked you, which was Europe’s fastest growing airline you might not know. You also might not know that this airline is the largest private operator in Turkey. The answer is Pegasus, an airline with a fleet of 59 aircraft flying to 91 destinations, carrying more than 20 million passengers per year.

Pegasus is aiming at being a role model for other airlines and so is continually developing to meet passenger expectations and priorities. One of those priorities is not just getting them quickly and safely to their destination but they also focused on how the passengers are handled on the ground. So when it came to ensuring their efficient movement from aircraft to terminal they came to TAM-Europe for the solution.

Pegasus had the need for many special features including rear-view cameras instead of conventional mirrors, to improve driver view accuracy as well as many vehicles being fitted with rear door passenger access to compliment the more usual side doors. These airport workhorses offer a wide variety of options and it goes without saying that they satisfy all IATA and airport safety standards.

As a result Pegasus purchased 24 VivAir2 104WL model apron buses, the largest in this industry with its – 14.7M length and 3.2M width. These buses are able to comfortably carry 104 Pegasus passengers, that’s an entire aircraft for many routes!

At TAM-Europe we were very impressed with the Pegasus idea of naming newly delivered aircraft after the youngest daughters of Pegasus employees. But their 2014 launch of ‘The World’s Most Wonderful Gift’ painting competition – based on the idea that holidays are best illustrated by a child’s imagination – was even more exciting as the winning painting now decorates one of their aircraft. The winner, Ada Eminağaoğlu was very excited to find out that her painting was to travel across the world on a plane.

We are proud to be in cooperation with such an innovative company and look forward to further cooperation with Pegasus. With this sale, TAM-Europe has not only entered into the Turkish market but also surrounding markets. Up to now, there were no TAM- Europe products in either Turkey or the surrounding countries. Other ground support companies actually started asking about our buses even before the Pegasus delivery.
